General Information:

DESTREHAN PLANTATION is open for tours 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, except on major holidays. Fortunately the home and grounds were not damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Costumed interpreters will intrigue you with the legacy of the Destrehan family, historic events that occurred at this site, and the unique architectural features of the plantation.

Destrehan is owned by the River Road Historical Society, a not-for-profit organization. All proceeds are invested back into the property for further renovation and education endeavors.

TICKETS for tours are purchased at the Museum Store located on the (eastern) right hand side of the property.

Group Tour Rates - Special group rates are available for groups scheduling in advance. There is a nominal fee, which goes to further restoration and refurbishing of the house under the direction of the River Road Historical Society (a non-profit organization). Directions

Directions - Destrehan Plantation is located a half-mile from from the Destrehan Bridge on Hwy. 48 (River Road).

Located 8 miles from New Orleans International Airport. Easily accessible from I-10 and Hwy. 61 by taking I-310 South and exiting at Hwy. 48 (River Road). Turn left at River Road and house is on left at 13034 River Rd. General parking is located on the east entrance (right side of house).
