Destrehan Plantation invites you to peek into Louisiana’s past during Heritage Day on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 9am to 3pm located at 13034 River Road, Destrehan, Louisiana 70047.
Walk in the footsteps of history through music, dance, demonstrations, exhibits and hands-on activities. This family friendly event is great for all ages and will include demonstrations of butter making, candle dipping, needlework, trapping, and many other “old-time” activities. You will listen to 19th century music in the shade of our historic oak trees and join in with the Lagniappe Historic Past-Time and Dance on our carriageway.
Meet soldiers from the War of 1812, see and hear their muskets, maybe even visit with a pirate or two! Take a walk inside the Finding Our Roots, African American Traveling Museum and visit with Southern Louisiana Native Americans.
Heritage Day pays tribute to the many cultures (e.g., Native Americans, French, Spanish, African and German) that came together to make our state unique. Visitors may choose to participate in the heritage activities only or in combination with a guided tour of a slave cabin and the main house. For more information and admission fees, please visit destrehanplantation.org or call Brenda Benoit at (985) 764-9315 ext. 3.
